Spellcheck Installation Instructions


 
            Users of Microsoft Word (any version) can utilize the Peoplese spellcheck.  Gratis.

             Once installed, and a text opened, all words in the text which are not in Peoplese will be red-lined.

             The Peoplese MS Word Spellcheck is not offered by Microsoft; it is offered by Peoplese, in the form of a Supplementary Dictionary.  In order to use the Peoplese spellcheck, you must first install the Peoplese Supplementary Dictionary on your computer.

             Then, when a text document is on your screen, you will have a choice of whether to use Peoplese spellcheck or the spellcheck of the language of your choice.

             Instructions for installing Peoplese MS Word Supplementary Dictionary on your computer.

                        Migrate to the Microsoft Uproof directory:

                                    Start File Explorer [your user name] AppData Roaming Microsoft UProof

                                    (Old MS Word versions do not have the word “roaming”, so just skip to next word.)

                        Highlight the “CUSTOM.DIC” file, copy it, and paste it into the Uproof directory.

                                    The new file name will automatically be:  CUSTOM – Copy.DIC   Save this as your backup.

                                    Copy CUSTOM.DIC a second time, and paste it to the Uproof directory.

                                    Change the name of this second copied file to:  PEOLESE.DIC

                                    Using Notepad, open PEOPLESE.DIC and delete any and all words.

                                    Click on Words in PEOPLESE.DIC on this website.

                                                (This file contains Peoplese words that are not English words.)

                                                Control A highlights all the words in Peoplese.Dic.  Control C copies them.

                                    Switch back to the PEOPLESE.DIC file from which you have deleted all words.

                                                Control V pastes all the words you just copied into PEOPLESE.DIC dictionary.

                        Next, highlight the “ExcludeDictionaryEN0409” file, copy it, paste to Uproof dictionary.

                                    (Note:  Do not confuse with the ExcludeDictionary files with simliar numbers.)

                                    The new file name will automatically be:  ExcludeDictionaryEN0409 –Copy.lex

                                                Save this as your backup.

                                    Using Notepad, open ExcludeDictionaryEN0409.lex and delete all and any words.

                                    Click on Words in Peoplese.ExcludeDictionaryEN0409 on this website.

                                                (This file contains English words that are not Peoplese words.)

                                                Control A highlights all the words in that file.  Control C copies them.

                                    Switch back to the ExcludeDictionaryEN0409.lex file, from which you have deleted all words.

                                    Control V pastes all the words you just copied into ExcludeDictionaryEN0409.

                        Open a blank (or any) text file.

                                    Click on:  File (upper left corner)   Options Proofing Custom Dictionary

                                    In the Custom Dictionary Dialog box, click “Add”,

                                                and migrate to the PEOPLESE.DIC file, then click on it.

                                                This will add Peoplese as an optional dictinoary.

                                    To select which dictionary to use for any document, check the appropriate box:

                                                “Peoplese” if Peoplese, or “Custom” if your default language.

                        Exit MS Word, and re-start MS Word, for the changes to take effect.

                                    If you select the Peoplese dictionary, words which are not in Peoplese will be red-lined.

 

            Upon encountering a red-lined word, in order to find the correct Peoplese word,

                        open the Peoplese Online Dictionary (lower right tab).

                        Check the “English” circle, and type the English word in the blank.

                        The peoplese translation or translations will appear on the screen.

 

             A second option is to use the gratis Peoplese translator, available on this site (via upper right button).

                         The translator automatcially translates English words that have one Peoplese equivalent.

                         English words with multiple Peoplese equivalents are highlighted in yellow,

                                     followed by the Peoplese synonyms (also highlighted in yellow), for the editor to choose from.

                                     Most choices are obvious.  E.g. watch (watch / wrist·clock

                                     From the text, delete the incorrect choice.
